Bus Conduct & Rules

SCHOOL BUS SAFETYThe loading and unloading process is the most important time for a student riding the school bus is . It is critical that students are visible to the driver and out of the bus danger zones (10 foot perimeter) when the bus is in motion. This rule applies to loading and unloading both in the neighborhood and at the schools. When students are crossing the street, they should immediately move out of the danger zone and proceed at least 10 feet in front of the bus before crossing the street.

Student safety is the primary concern of the district’s transportation department.


The following safety rules must be adhered to by students boarding, riding, and exiting the school bus:

  1. Arrive at the bus stop 10 to 15 minutes before the scheduled pick up time.
  2. Wait at a safe distance from where the bus stops.
  3. Board and exit the bus in an orderly manner at the assigned bus stop.
  4. When the bus arrives, do not approach the bus until it comes to a complete stop and the service door has been opened.
  5. Do not push or cut in line when boarding the bus. Enter the bus in an orderly manner.
  6. When entering the bus, go directly to a seat or in your assigned seat and remain there ntil you arrive at your final destination.
